Why do I have to pay a waiting list deposit?
Because our service is so popular, we have to ensure that we only place people on our waiting list who are serious about our service. Too many times have we had someone change their mind at the last minute, and the time spent working and communicating with them could have been spent one someone who truly wanted a new look for their CafePress shop.

Why does my shop have to be set up before you begin work? I'd rather get the template first, and then add my products.
If your shop is empty, it's difficult for us to ensure that there are no layout conflicts or other bugs. Once your template is done, it's done - we can't go back and adjust it six weeks later. For example, if we design your shop assuming your section thumbnails will be 150x150 pixels, and you end up using 200x200 pixel thumbnails, your template could break. To prevent this, your shop should have at least six sections of products in it before we begin work.

What is CPshop? What do you do with CPshop and my store?
CPshop pulls your store into your own server/web hosting account. Besides giving more control over the presentation and navigation of your shop, it is also good for SEO and branding. (your store would be at yourname.com in addition to cafepress.com/yourstore) Besides installing that and configuring the options for you, we also make a copy of your custom CafePress store template and change some of the code in it to work better with Cpshop.

I am pretty decent with html. Can I edit my Peon Productions template myself after you have it done?
Sure - in fact we encourage you to play with it and get your learn on. But, and this is very important, you need to make a backup copy of your code before you do anything to it. If you corrupt your template code, we'd have to charge you to figure out what went wrong and fix it.

I would like my template done in Flash. Can you do that?
Flash is not really appropriate for an e-commerce environment. Your SEO rankings will plummet, not to mention you could lose any potential customer who doesn't have it installed. We don't want to be responsible for that, and the cost of animating your template would most likely not be worth the investment.

I am going to be (out of town / without internet access / unavailable) on my scheduled start date. What do I do?
Contact David (the person who sent you the start date of your project) right away. With enough notice, an arrangement may be able to be made. In many cases, however, you lose your deposit and have to pay a new one to be placed back on the waiting list.

What happens if I don't like the design at all? Do I have to pay more to start over?
If you are unhappy with what your designer sent you, the best thing you can do is come up with a very detailed list of what you do like, what you don't like, and what you want. After your first draft, you get two more sessions of changes free of charge. So, the more you can communicate to your designer what you want, the more effective your next two sessions of changes will be. For more details, be sure to read the Terms of Service.

I don't like email. Can I call my designer to discuss my design?
We've had people do telephone consults in the past, however the majority of our designers keep odd hours - email is the best way to contact them.

Do I have to have a web hosting account? I don't even know what that is.
A web hosting account is where the images used in your template are stored. (and scripts as well, depending on what add-ons you selected) Although you could technically use free image hosting services such as photobucket or imageshack, it's not recommended. They tend to take longer to load, and if you have a popular shop you may exceed the bandwidth they allow with their free accounts. (meaning none of the images in your template would show up when a shopper is in your shop) We do offer a $25 template discount if you sign up for a year of web hosting with one of our partners. we can even help you get it all set up if you need.
